The Chairman's Welcome
On behalf of the leaders and members of 2nd Cheadle Scout Group, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 42nd Annual Ram Roast, here at the Abney Scout and Guide Centre.
As the Group's main fundraising event, the Ram Roast enables us to invest in new equipment, maintain our headquarters at The Paddock and deliver a programme of activities that helps our young members to learn new skills, tackle new challenges and experience things they many not otherwise get the opportunity to enjoy, all while having fun and making friends.
As I'm sure you can appreciate, the Ram Roast requires a lot of hard work bother over the weeks leading up to the even and on the day. I'd therefore like to thank all our leaders and the many volunteers who have given up their time to help us run the vast range of stalls which makes the Ram Roast such a great event.
I also want to thank all the groups who have joined us today to take part in the parade or who have put on displays as part of our programme. I also like to thank the many local businesses who are supporting the Ram Roast by advertising in this programme and on our website (ramroast.co.uk), by donating prizes for the Lucky Programme Draw or allowing us to put up posters or selling programmes in their shops.
My thanks also go to the St Johns Ambulance, Stockport MBC and Greater Manchester Police who help the event pass off safely and securely each year.
Finally I would like to express my gratitude to you, the people of Cheadle, for coming along today and supporting our Group. I hope you have a fantastic day!
